Matt Hamm is a local boy, graduating from Mt. Tabor in 2004. After working at a few local classics like the Juice Shop, and the Bagel Station, he wanted to feel more fulfilled, and do something that meant more. Matt earned a BA in Creative Writing and his K-6 teachers license from Salem College in 2016, and a MA in Reading from Appalachian State in 2022. He spent the last six years helping students find and achieve their potential in and out of the classroom as a Kindergarten teacher. Giving back to the school by helping to establish a Sustainability Committee, creating a schoolwide recycling program, and helping to plan, build, install, and manage the school’s greenhouses and garden beds. Through this adventure of helping others see their full potential, Matt has found his as well.
When it comes to real estate, not unlike in the classroom, Matt believes communication is vital and relationships are everything. By talking with and listening to his clients, getting to know them, and forming a better understanding of their wants and needs, he strives to help them achieve their real estate goals/dreams. Working as a teacher has helped Matt become a more understanding and compassionate person, while trying to see the best in everyone. Transitioning these skills to real estate, he works hard to meet the needs of his clients while still trying to satisfy some of their wants, as well.
Matt’s amazing wife Maria and three kids, Vanessa, Matthew (Yemo), and Jaxon are the driving force that pushes him to succeed, while also helping him be a more understanding and patient person. Being members of the Midway community, Matt and his family find themselves rooting for the Oak Grove Grizzlies football and soccer teams, and the DCYSA Classic league. Vanessa plays JV soccer for Oak Grove, and Matthew (Yemo) plays in the DCYSA Classic League. Rounding out the fam are their German Shepherd Rocco, Golden Doodle Chloe, and their 29 chickens. If he’s not helping Maria with the kids or spectating their sporting events, Matt can be found watching professional soccer whenever he can, going to a Charlotte FC game, or playing disc golf. Matt and his family like to go hiking, enjoy the mountains and the beach, but also like to argue who will win when the USMNT plays Mexico.
